Amy Wilmoth Head Coach

My name is Amy Wilmoth, and I’m from Sacramento, CA. I started swimming when I was just 4 years old and continued through high school, developing a lifelong love for the sport. I’ve been coaching for many years, starting my at own team at age 14, and now having the privilege to be Head Coach here at the Copley-Price YMCA.

I’ve always had a passion for both swimming and teaching, and this job is the perfect mix of the two. My coaching philosophy focuses on individual growth, team connection, strong swim technique, and creating a positive, supportive environment. I believe my role goes beyond coaching in the pool, I’m here to help guide young swimmers through these formative stages of life.

I emphasize proper technique as a foundation for achieving swimmers' goals and advancing their skills. I support my swimmers through positive reinforcement, personal connection, and a commitment to their overall well-being. Coaching the Orcas has truly been one of the highlights of my life!

DawnElla Coach

Coach DawnElla joined her first swim team at age 7. Summers and school sport seasons growing up were mostly spent in the water and later, as a swim coach during college breaks. She attended the University of the Pacific (BA) and Santa Clara University (JD). DawnElla returned to coaching when her two young sons joined a YMCA team in San Diego. She has over 20 years of coaching experience, is a USA Swimming and a Level 2 American Swim Coach Association (ASCA) certified swim coach, and has coached all levels of swimmers ranging from novice to NCAA College level swimmers. She has experience with swim teams as a swimmer, a parent of two committed swimmers, and as a coach. DawnElla is now retired from a 30+ year legal career as a trial attorney and chooses to spend her free time staying healthy, watching her sons continue to grow and succeed, and on the pool deck as a coach with Y Masters, a high school, and a USA Swimming year-round swim club. She firmly believes that swimming with a team offers a foundation for lifelong friendships, strength, and success with opportunities for individual growth and learning that transcend the pool.
