Swim Meet 101

  • Swimmer and volunteer check-in procedure
    • Check-in will be about 1-2 hours before the start of a meet
    • Swimmers are required to check in when they arrive and will be scratched from events if not
    • Volunteers must check in with coaches before the start of the meet
    • Each Y meet runs a little differently, check with your coach before attending
  • What should we bring?
    • Cap & goggles
    • At least 2 towels
    • Sunscreen
    • Parka/Robe (if desired)
    • Comfy clothes/sweat pants
    • Refillable Water Bottle
    • Snacks and lunch
    • Chair(s) to sit in
  • Snack suggestions
    • Fresh Fruits: Bananas, apples, oranges, and grapes
    • Energy Bars: Look for ones with protein and carbs
    • Nuts and Seeds: Small portions of almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, etc.
    • Pretzels or Rice Cakes: Light and easy on the stomach
    • Drinks: Water and sports drinks for hydration
  • Timeline
    • Meets typically run 4-5 hours depending on registration numbers
    • Coaches will send out timelines before each meet
